Ok, so this blog is NOT gonna be all about roller skating, I promise! But, today I went to a roller skating / fitness class and I have to share...it was so fun, and painful, and I did really good so I am very happy!! There were 8 of us, ranging from beginning to seasoned skaters. I would say that I am seasoned, and saucy, but that is another topic for another day.
I am trying to get in shape and build my roller skating skill set so that I will not be laughed out of the "Fresh Meat" meeting for Roller Derby next month. After today, I actually feel better about my chances, but I still need to keep working on it. Those Roller Derby girls are tough so I need to dig my badass attitude up out of the place I have buried it for the past few years while I have been working on being respectable and grown up. I have decided that I just need to balance the two, badass and respectable. It can be done, I know it can! My mantra will be, "I am a badass, respectable woman who can take 'em down with style". Ok, I may need to work on that a little.
While I am practicing my roller derby-style skating skills, I hope to get into better shape so that I will have a new and improved look to go along with my new and improved attitude (or really, my old and rediscovered attitude). I can't wait to go shopping for a couple short skirts, new fishnets, and colorful knee-high socks to skate in...they say the clothes make the girl, right?! So, dress the part, be the badass - respectably?
